KSS- Philippine Mission Trip

Vivian's Story (Member of the team):  

     2008, was the year that we started our first missionary trip in the Philippines. That year I was just a 5th-grade student, so I couldn't join the mission trip until junior high school. I waited till 2013 and went on my first year of my Philippine missionary trip. It also the first time I feel such thankfulness, and thanking all the people that have been in my life, thankful for my family , my friends, my teachers, and all the people that stayed beside me. 

     

      The Philippines is one of the most economic inequality countries in the world. The numerous families in the slums don’t know when there will be the next meal because they don’t have enough money to pay for food. In addition, any newborn kids had been abandon on streets, their life may be chosen to be saved, saved by the orphanage, or the kind people, but there are also many children who might starve on the streets, with no one willing to lend a hand to help them.

 

      In the past years, our schedule and the planning of our mission trip were mostly set by our school’s teachers; and this year we wish we can make up our own schedule and plan our own trip.

 

      We wish we can also go to a different orphanage and Slum, and meet new children and new families. We can also help them, even make a little meal for them, accompany beside them. We wish they can be filled with love from you and us.

 

      I remember every time I walked into the slum, I felt a tear inside my eye, I felt the pain of the child in front of me, but they were smiling, and that time my heart knew, they were stronger than me, but they needed us, and I... want to give them some love.

 

      In orphanages, every time a child told us their story, I thought I knew them; however, I didn’t. Some of them might have been in violence, some of them might have been in abandon. I wish I can comfort the past of her/him. But I couldn’t. I wish I could save the past of them, But it is already in the past.
